“Creation of Identity”

is an exhibition featuring Polish artists with connections to the Netherlands, whose work develops at the intersection of art, architecture, design and other creative disciplines.

What connects them is not so much a shared medium or aesthetic, but an interest in the process of self-formation, developing an individual language and understanding the world around them. Identity here is not fixed or predetermined. It is shaped by experience, memory, relationships with the body and space, contact with matter, and the continuous interplay between the inner and outer worlds.

The artists explore this process through a range of media, including painting, watercolour, ceramics, objects and spatial practices. The works presented bring together intuition and structure, control and chance, nature and the built environment, materiality and experience. Creativity becomes not only a means of representing reality, but also a way of transforming it — and sometimes an attempt to understand one’s own place in the world.

The experience of living between different places and cultures provides an important context for the exhibition. All of the participating artists have connections to both Poland and the Netherlands, and their work develops from diverse experiences, languages and disciplines. The aim, however, is not to find a single definition of Polish or artistic identity. Rather, the exhibition explores its multiplicity — identity as an open, personal and continually evolving process.

“Creation of Identity” is also a story about the creative process itself — about how, through experimentation, attentiveness and engagement with materials, we can not only discover ourselves but also shape our own reality.

He graduated from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and is a member of TJ’s Pretty People, winners of the 2026 Grachtenfestival jazz competition and finalists in several national competitions. In his solo work, he focuses on improvisation and exploring the possibilities of a single guitar as a fully expressive musical voice.

The Polish-American duo The Lunterenieers perform songs by a range of well-known and lesser-known artists, presenting their own arrangements for two voices, guitar and violin. The duo was founded in 2019 and made their debut during the 28th Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity in Hoofddorp.
