Corallis

This collection of sculptures grew out of a very instinctive, personal need to reconnect with the world around me, especially the fragile beauty of marine life.

The corals, in particular, became a central influence. Their beauty, complexity, surfaces, eroded edges, and unpredictable rhythms echo the emotions that shaped these sculptures and the sadness of watching them bleach and disappear as the oceans warm. The pieces in this series are my way of processing that loss.

When I work with clay, I’m drawn to textures, shapes, and imperfections. My process is intuitive. I start with a feeling rather than a plan, letting my hands lead before my mind catches up. The pieces often explore contrasts I see in nature and in myself: fragility and strength, stillness and movement, permanence and things constantly shifting.
